The last general membership meeting of the year was held Wednesday 9 December 2009 at the
Arizona Building of Tucson Medical Center. As promised, this meeting was both an ice cream
social and the time to elect officers for the coming year. Cliff, KD6XH, reported on the
health and feeding of the repeaters. The 147.22 MHz repeater was out of commission for a
while after its antenna lost a battle to some construction machinery. This has been
resolved and the new antenna location even gained a bit of elevation.
It was noted that Dave Brown, KC7CQY, was photographed performing his duties at an aid
station for El Tour de Tucson. The picture was printed in La Estrella de Tucson in its
27 November 2009 edition. Several OPRC members assisted in providing communication support
to this famous annual race. Thank you all. Special thanks goes to Ted, AA7HX, for
coordinating the entire radio communications function for the race. Your work is always
appreciated.
The new slate of officers was voted into office.they are:
President: Ronald Kalish, N7SPW
Vice President: Alan Drexler, WB9TSU
Treasurer: George Devich N9IUK
Directors: Art Mills, KD7HZP; Bill Price, N7GUO; Dave Brown, KC7CQY; Ivan Settle, KB7USM;
and Cliff Hauser, KD6XH.
Congratulations to all.
Yours truly gave a short talk on the use of metric calculations and a metric steel tape
measure to determine the length of antennas and other frequency and wavelength critical
wire or cable lengths, rather than switching to feet and inches. Try it -- it is easier.
Cliff will be providing the program for the January meeting. 'Hope to see you all there.
At this point, the meeting was adjourned to the kitchen area for the ice cream.
