President's Article

The Old Pueblo Radio Club held its December meeting last night. New Officers were elected, but I will introduce them in the next column.
With the arrival of the new year comes the annual request for dues. Current dues are $20.00 per person (or $30.00 for two or more in a family). Your financial assistance in maintaining Tucson's Oldest radio club is appreciated.

For several weeks I have been aware of the possibility that our meeting room in the Arizona Building of Tucson Medical Center might not be available to us in the future. I also had difficulty contacting the person with whom we normally would be working to assure use of the building.
The Friday before the December general meeting, I was notified that the information was correct and the Old Pueblo Radio Club is no longer authorized to use the Arizona Building. I received the name of a new contact person at Tucson Medical Center, and was able to apply for a new meeting room elsewhere on the campus of the Tucson Medical Center. Our sponsored amateur radio class also has been relocated to a room in the main hospital building. Because the rooms are used for hospital education purposes, they are subject to preemption with little or no notice, but the hospital will try to work with us to minimize this uncertainty. The permission was only for this meeting, but I have also applied for monthly use of the room for 2012.

Our meeting was held in the B.K. Mason Conference Room, which is off of a hallway on the north side of the Marshall Conference Center. The Marshall Conference Center is on the east (Craycroft) side of the building. The nearest parking lot is reserved for physicians, so plan to do some walking to get to the room. If we must change rooms, I will post a note next to this conference room. If entering at the southwest entrance (obstetrics), turn right at the OB information desk, follow that hallway north to its end, turn left, and watch for the room on the right. Or, if the parking lot entrance just north of the Conference Center is open, enter there, and walk west until you come to the conference room. Our name should be on the list of activities scheduled to use the room. We hope to see you there.

In any event, the Old Pueblo Radio Club wishes all it members, all amateur radio operators and their families everywhere the best of the season and of the new year.
